Biography

Adele Newton is the Senior Advisor, University Research at Research In Motion, where she develops and manages university research collaborations between RIM and leading researchers internationally. Adele has more than 25 years of program development and management experience in the university, technology and not-for-profit sectors. She has established a broad range of innovative research/industry/government collaborations including the university program at Alias Research, the Bell University Laboratories at the University of Toronto, and the successful CFI project “From Nano Structures to Quantum Information Processing: A Technology Incubator for the 21st Century” at the Institute for Quantum Computing at the University of Waterloo. Adele holds a BMath degree from the University of Waterloo. She served on the board of directors for SIGGRAPH (ACM’s Special Interest Group on Computer Graphics) and as a member of the Research Management Committees for IRIS and Precarn and co-chaired the SIGGRAPH ’88 conference.
