Frank Knoefel is a physician trained in care of the elderly with extensive experience in geriatric rehabilitation. He is currently Vice-President of Medical Affairs and Health Informatics at Bruyère Continuing Care. He holds appointments as Associate Professor, Department of Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering at Carleton University. He is also a Clinical Scientist at the Élisabeth Bruyère Research Institute, a University of Ottawa and Bruyère Continuing Care Partnership. Dr. Knoefel’s research, through TAFETA (Technology Assisted Friendly Environment for the Third Age, www.tafeta.ca) is focused on developing technologies to help older adults “age in place.”
